As I write this it seems a long time since the March Parish Council meeting and the issues with the coronavirus have taken over day to day life.
A support group has been set up to help those in the village who have to self-isolate for whatever reason; a leaflet has been delivered to every house in the village giving contact details. If you need help or if you are able to give help, please do get in touch.
At their March meeting, the Parish Council continued to discuss the Traffic Calming plan for the village. It was agreed that the Council would purchase two Speed Indicator Devices to include data collection. Costs are being obtained for village gates to be sited at various locations in the village.
Three planning applications were considered:
20/01265/FUL Installation of ground mount solar panels at Trees in Blounts Court to which the Council had no objection. They did object to the demolition of existing dilapidated
bungalow and construction of 2 bungalows with rooms in the roof space, and associated works at The Squirrels in Blounts Court (20/01127/FUL). The third application that was considered was 20/01152/VAR which was for a variation of condition 2 (approved
plans) to allow for changes to roof design on Tyddyn Terrwyn, Five Lanes; as the Parish Council has objected to the original application (18/07589/FUL) it was decided not to submit a response.
It was noted that the application for the erection of new storage building for Potterne Cricket Club (19/11643/FUL) was approved with conditions by Wiltshire Council.
Cllr John Chandler briefed the Council on arrangements for the events to commemorate VE/VJ day in May which include a bring and share picnic, events in the pub and Social Club and a service in St Mary’s Church. Do keep an eye out for more information in due course.
The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Wednesday 20 May. The Jubilee Cup and Alan Mead Memorial Shield will be awarded at the meeting.
